Sacrifices Ceased

Daniel tells us what was nailed to the cross.

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,….”

Daniel 9:27

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”

Colossians 2:14

When Jesus died on the cross He was the final sacrifice without blemish, so there were no more animals to be offered on the altar.  All the animals that had been sacrificed for hundreds of years, pointed to the time when Jesus would give His life for all the sins of this world.  The people were suppose to be reminded of this every time they brought an offering for their sins.  We are the sinners, and ought to die, but Jesus gave His life so we do not have to die the eternal death if we accept Him as our Saviour from sin.

In the plan of salvation the Lord has used types and symbols to make it easier for man to understand what He has done to make it possible for man to stop sinning and be saved and live forever.
